Muphoric Sounds 12

Can't remember for the life of me where I bought this record, but once I saw the cover and saw Larry's name I picked it up. Lots of good cuts on this LP. Listen and read my review of it with a bit of Bay Area history on Muphoric Sounds And, in case you missed the memo, I write about old school songs i love that range from jazz to funk, electronic to brazilian.

Art that must leave my house

Was just listening to Jack Davey perform Iggy Pop's "I wanna be your dog" and moved hellla (a lot) of stuff today for the 90th time and decided that i need to let go of some artwork. People have been asking about it for awhile so here you go. I am selling original pieces, but it's pay what you can. Go to the page and you'll see what i mean.

Semilla

Just knocked this idea out at "art night" with Joy Liu and Tiffany Eng (gracious hosts) among other creative stars, a rough, quick, loose painting. It encompasses a pattern similar to the Ndebele house paintings in South Africa and a hand holding a fruit, a kiwi. Semilla=seeds.....

Clinica Martin Baro

So my homie hooked me up with this one. If you know any low income folks, workers, or people of color who need to be seen by a doctor for free, send them to this Clinica. In addition to this they offer help getting medicine. In the process of this Dr. Revery Barnes was my art director providing insight and laughs about this great establishment that is serving a critical need. In times of anti-immigrant laws and policies, this is greatly needed. Especially in the Latino community in the Mission. Thanks to my homie Nancy who linked me with CMB. You can find out more about them HERE. Or watch a video Josue Rojas of Pacific News Service did about them, featuring my homie physician Emilia Wilkins!

DJ Haylow Pete Rock Mix

Back in 06' I did some art for my friend DJ Haylow. Was just listening to his James Brown Tribute Mix and thought I'd shot him out because he has stayed consistent in making incredible mixes (The Love Movement, JDilla, Rel's Orchestration, A TribeCalled Quest, the list goes on) and now the brother is working on making a documentary on Roy Ayers with the Distortion 2 Static family! I could go on and on about Pete Rock(one of my favorite producers) use of composition, arranging, and sampling of Jazz music, but just peep Haylow's selection, it's Very inspirational. Listen, buy, and share this brother's mixes HERE.
